Consumer Engagement With Risk Information on Prescription Drug Social Media Pages: Findings From In-Depth Interviews

Consumer Engagement With Risk Information on Prescription Drug Social Media Pages: Findings From In-Depth Interviews

Consumers can use social media to find information about prescription drugs in a variety of ways, including searching for information from pharmaceutical companies, reading reviews and testimonials, and interacting with other consumers. A nationally representative survey of 1744 US adults found that 26% of respondents had seen a prescription drug advertised on social media in the past 3 months, and 9% had watched a video on the web about a prescription drug on a social networking website [3].

Mental Health Providers’ Challenges and Solutions in Prescribing Over Telemedicine: Content Analysis of Semistructured Interviews

Mental Health Providers’ Challenges and Solutions in Prescribing Over Telemedicine: Content Analysis of Semistructured Interviews

Of the 85 (36.3%) out of the 234 total code instances that describe barriers (14 providers), 37 (44%) of the 85 instances specifically mentioned that the e-prescription platform and the pharmacies caused challenges in prescribing medicines or picking up medicines (13 providers). There were 17 (20%) instances of providers describing difficulties with the actual e-prescription platform they use.

Prevalence of Antibiotic Prescribing for Acute Respiratory Tract Infection in Telehealth Versus Face-to-Face Consultations: Cross-Sectional Analysis of General Practice Registrars’ Clinical Practice

Prevalence of Antibiotic Prescribing for Acute Respiratory Tract Infection in Telehealth Versus Face-to-Face Consultations: Cross-Sectional Analysis of General Practice Registrars’ Clinical Practice

The most common reason for prescription of antibiotics in general practice is nonpneumonia, self-limiting acute respiratory tract infections (ARTIs) [4]. ARTIs (common cold [upper respiratory tract infection {URTI}], acute bronchitis, acute sore throat, acute otitis media, and acute sinusitis) are not generally recommended to be treated with antibiotics, irrespective of symptom severity (in the case of URTI and bronchitis) [2,5-7].

Improving Affordability in Dermatology: Cost Savings in Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company Versus GoodRx

Improving Affordability in Dermatology: Cost Savings in Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company Versus GoodRx

Prescription medication affordability is a significant issue within the United States and has been associated with medication nonadherence and negative health outcomes [1-4]. These effects are compounded in vulnerable populations, including ethnic minority groups and uninsured individuals [1]. In 2022, entrepreneur Mark Cuban launched the Mark Cuban Cost Plus Drug Company (Cost Plus)—a public benefit corporation with a vertically integrated supply chain—to address rising pharmaceutical costs [2,5].

Association Between X/Twitter and Prescribing Behavior During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Retrospective Ecological Study

Association Between X/Twitter and Prescribing Behavior During the COVID-19 Pandemic: Retrospective Ecological Study

A 10-day prescription and the National Average Drug Acquisition Cost in 2021 were used to calculate the cost of a prescription [22,23]. Statistical analysis was performed using a Granger causality test to determine whether a temporal association exists between X/Twitter mentions and hydroxychloroquine prescriptions [24]. For analysis, the tweets were classified into 3 sentiment categories: neutral, nonneutral, and total as Brandwatch sentiment analysis allows for the most accuracy with this approach.

Naloxone Coprescribing and the Prevention of Opioid Overdoses: Quasi-Experimental Metacognitive Assessment of a Novel Education Initiative

Naloxone Coprescribing and the Prevention of Opioid Overdoses: Quasi-Experimental Metacognitive Assessment of a Novel Education Initiative

While metacognitive processing was shown to be important for behavior change, we do not have a long-term measure to determine whether the intervention resulted in increased naloxone prescription or even whether learners went on to implement coprescription initiatives in their practice settings. As referenced earlier, there are multiple ways to assess metacognition, of which CTF is one, and the validity of one accepted measure of metacognition has yet to be established.

Quality and Accountability of ChatGPT in Health Care in Low- and Middle-Income Countries: Simulated Patient Study

Quality and Accountability of ChatGPT in Health Care in Low- and Middle-Income Countries: Simulated Patient Study

Their approach to drug prescription can be aggressive due to a lack of professional accountability or a motive to reduce medical expenses. Chat GPT also performed better in managing noncommunicable diseases than infectious diseases. This could be because more information on the former is available for AI training during development [10]. Chat GPT’s performance also varied within each disease case, contrary to our expectation that this would be more standardized. We acknowledge several limitations.

Medication Management Strategies to Support Medication Adherence: Interview Study With Older Adults

Medication Management Strategies to Support Medication Adherence: Interview Study With Older Adults

Participants using prescription bottles used 1 storage location for their currently used bottle; those who received a 90-day supply in multiple bottles used a secondary location for excess. Participants using pill cases used 2 storage locations: a primary storage location for the pill case itself and a secondary storage location for the prescription bottles used to refill the pill case.
