The aim of this paper is to explore a data-driven approach to fundraising in medical education, integrating comprehensive data analysis with ethical considerations. A fundraising plan or road map is aligned with an institution’s strategic plan and is an essential component of a successful fundraising effort.

Information that is not available in the static HTML, such as fundraising updates and donor comments, could not be captured using this method. We identified the campaign language using the langdetect library and excluded campaigns without a campaign description in English while retaining campaigns with descriptions in English and another language. Overall, 2,208,418 URLs were present in the sitemap.xml; of which 494,242 were active US medical campaigns written in English.

Given established skin cancer risks post transplantation secondary to immunosuppression [3], in this study, we aimed to characterize and analyze these factors in transplant recipients’ campaigns for skin cancer–related fundraising. This study was deemed exempt by the University of Virginia’s institutional review board.
