Roles and Responsibilities of the Global Specialist Digital Health Workforce: Analysis of Global Census Data

The items in the census tool were based on existing workforce data items from other surveys and census data sets, and were initially developed with Australian and New Zealand experts. Based on the Health Workforce Australia Report [4], which called for improved data collection about the workforce, the census was referred to as the Australian Health Information Workforce Census.

There is currently no census-based question on same-sex behavior that yields data to estimate a national proportion or count of MSM in the United States, although there is 1 question about being part of a same-sex household [5]. However, these data exclude MSM who are not domiciled with a male partner or who decline to report that their housemate is a partner.

When working with data sets with US patients, the US decennial census data contain group-level counts that can be incorporated into risk calculations. For example, one may use the census to look up the size of the population of all female patients aged 90 years and older (the census value will serve as an approximation due to shifts in population over time).
