A Digitally Capable Aged Care Workforce: Demands and Directions for Workforce Education and Development

How can such investment in turn improve working conditions and job satisfaction in the aged care workforce? The authors explored these questions during a workshop that we facilitated at the July 2023 Med Info conference in Sydney, Australia. There we presented our view that workforce research and development is needed to achieve optimal outcomes for workers in order to achieve these for service users as the aged care sector moves toward digital maturity.

User Experience of a Bespoke Videoconferencing System for Web-Based Family Visitation for Patients in an Intensive Care Unit: 1-Year Cross-Sectional Survey of Nursing Staff

It included 22 questions from the TUQ, using a 7-point Likert scale, to assess the ease of use and learnability, interface quality, interaction quality, reliability, satisfaction and future use, and usefulness. The remaining questions ascertained participants’ demographics and details on the respondent’s use of the videoconferencing system in the ICU. Free-text comment boxes were available to gather additional qualitative data.

AI technology has also been used in teaching clinical examination skills, such as breast self-examination, yielding mixed results: high levels of student satisfaction paired with increased anxiety [4]. Such AI-driven interventions will be leading health care practice in the future, such as the introduction of machine-based surgical treatment with robotic surgery, which has effectively promoted diagnostic accuracy, achieving treatment goals and saving health care professionals’ workload [5-7].

In addition, a systematic review concluded that computer-enabled discharge communication interventions improve both patient and provider satisfaction and reduce perceived adverse events [12].

Acceptance was operationalized as participant satisfaction, meaning that the focus was on how well the program was received by users and whether it met their needs and expectations [33]. Prior to the implementation of the support program, experts from the institution were identified and asked to act as potential lecturers at the planned times. Based on the subject areas and descriptions in the manual, they prepared short presentations according to the specified parameters (format, time).
