The Impact of Trust and the Role of the Opt-Out Mechanism in Willingness to Share Health Data via Electronic Health Records in Germany: Telephone Survey Study

Health data stored in electronic health records (EHRs) are considered an extremely valuable source for advancing medical science and health care. EHRs have the potential to provide high-quality longitudinal data from a broad spectrum of the population. It is therefore not surprising that many countries are implementing data-sharing options to make use of these data.

User Experience of a Bespoke Videoconferencing System for Web-Based Family Visitation for Patients in an Intensive Care Unit: 1-Year Cross-Sectional Survey of Nursing Staff

These restrictive policies were introduced to decrease the risk of transmission of COVID-19 in health care settings [4]. These policies have been shown to be extremely isolating for patients, distressing for family members, and even hampering clinical care provided by health care professionals [1,6]. In particular, patients who are critically ill or vulnerable are often reliant on family for support, and at times, families are surrogate decision makers for patients.

Improving the Health and Well-Being of Individuals by Addressing Social, Economic, and Health Inequities (Healthy Eating Active Living): Protocol for a Cohort Study

Improving the Health and Well-Being of Individuals by Addressing Social, Economic, and Health Inequities (Healthy Eating Active Living): Protocol for a Cohort Study

The World Health Organization (WHO) identifies health inequities as “systematic differences in the health status of different population groups” [1]. Further, the WHO refers to health as “a state of complete physical, mental, and social well-being and not merely the absence of disease or infirmity” [2]. Consequently, research on health inequity is a central agenda component of the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals and various government and development dialogues [3,4].

Revisits, Readmission, and Mortality From Emergency Department Admissions for Older Adults With Vague Presentations: Longitudinal Observational Study

Revisits, Readmission, and Mortality From Emergency Department Admissions for Older Adults With Vague Presentations: Longitudinal Observational Study

Any change to admission decisions can impact outcomes and costs since two-thirds of ED health care costs in the United States come from visits that end in admission [5,6]. Whether to admit or discharge a patient is a weighty decision. This point is best exemplified with older adults (≥65 years of age). Discharging an older adult carries a high risk of adverse health outcomes, especially when compared with younger patients [7-12].
