The first is the increase in patient harm if the information is not entered, retrieved, or processed correctly, coined e-iatrogenesis [2]. A recent retrospective review showed 2000 medical errors directly related to EHR use over 3 years in the state of Pennsylvania alone, and this may be an underrepresented number given the underreporting of events [3]. Second, there is an increase in provider burnout because of the burden of EHR use [4-6].
