In existing literature, self-efficacy was significantly correlated with short- and long-term adherence [21,29,30]. Thus, this smartphone app also enhanced the sustainability of HIV/AIDS treatment. Longitudinal studies with longer follow-up periods are needed to test this hypothesis. In addition, it should be noted that the level of HIV symptom management self-efficacy was reduced at 3 months in the intervention group compared with that of the control group.
