Developing a Scalable Annotation Method for Large Datasets That Enhances Alarms With Actionability Data to Increase Informativeness: Mixed Methods Approach

Developing a Scalable Annotation Method for Large Datasets That Enhances Alarms With Actionability Data to Increase Informativeness: Mixed Methods Approach

As alarm logs are only stored locally in Philips’ central station for 90 days, these were regularly extracted using a USB stick; extensively processed by applying R scripts [34], which are partly based on R scripts by Poncette et al [35]; and imported into the database. We chose a mixed methods approach, blending quantitative strategies, data-driven as well as qualitative evidence-based strategies, and empirical strategies to inform the development process of our annotation guideline.

Creation of an Evidence-Based Implementation Framework for Digital Health Technology in the Intensive Care Unit: Qualitative Study

Creation of an Evidence-Based Implementation Framework for Digital Health Technology in the Intensive Care Unit: Qualitative Study

Results of the field research were published by Poncette et al [39]. For qualitative analysis, we applied a hybrid approach combining inductive and deductive coding elements, as described by Fereday and Muir-Cochrane [48]. First, the interview transcripts were analyzed using a thematic analysis approach, applying an inductive coding process, meaning that themes and codes were iteratively developed and applied to all transcripts [49].
