Experiences and Views of Young People and Health Care Professionals of Using Social Media to Self-Manage Type 1 Diabetes Mellitus: Thematic Synthesis of Qualitative Studies

One researcher (YM) extracted data for all studies, with another (KL) doing this in duplicate for a random 20% (n=3) of studies. Data were exported to NVivo (Lumivero) for further thematic synthesis in 3 steps [29]. First, line-by-line coding in duplicate by 2 researchers (YM and KL) using an inductive approach—the researchers extracted and tabulated all quotes and applied codes that reflected the meaning of the quote.

Understanding How the Design and Implementation of Online Consultations Affect Primary Care Quality: Systematic Review of Evidence With Recommendations for Designers, Providers, and Researchers

Although symptom checkers [29,42] and patient portals [30,43,44] have been well studied, only a small number of evidence syntheses directly relevant to OCs have been published: a systematic review of 57 articles on delivering “e-consultation” in primary care largely focused on generic stand-alone applications such as email and video (n=39/57, 68%) [45]; a scoping review of “online triage tools” included 13 papers, 4 of which (31%) were nonempirical (eg, opinion pieces) [46]; and a review of 17 studies of “intelligent

How, for Whom, and in Which Contexts or Conditions Augmented and Virtual Reality Training Works in Upskilling Health Care Workers: Realist Synthesis

Of the 7 studies, the 2 (29%) that remained were combined with the empirical literature from the first search (n=54). Of these 56 studies, 46 (82%) were included in testing and refining the theory, after 10 (18%) were excluded for not providing evidence on the CMO configurations. The 80 papers identified in the first search consisted of empirical research (55/80, 69%), literature reviews (22/80, 28%), case reports (2/80, 3%), and cost-benefit analyses (1/80, 1%).
