An initial CLIQ framework was developed through a systematic review and qualitative synthesis of existing information quality frameworks for DHTs [11]. A CLIQ assessment questionnaire was then developed based on the CLIQ framework and further evidence from literature [21]. The questionnaire offers a pragmatic approach to assessing clinical information in DHTs based on relatable clinical scenarios.

To manage diabetes in the long term, a combination of a healthy lifestyle and medication seems optimal. However, as individual factors (eg, comorbidities) can make glycemic control (glycated hemoglobin [Hb A1c] levels) through medication challenging, a change in lifestyle is preferred as a first-step approach [6].

Drawing on the review’s findings, we developed a clinical information quality (CLIQ) framework as a pragmatic approach to assessing the quality of clinical information in DHTs. The CLIQ framework defined 13 dimensions relevant to the quality of clinical information in DHTs and was accompanied by a questionnaire for assessing information quality.

Information Quality Frameworks for Digital Health Technologies: Systematic Review
For instance, a patient in the United Kingdom experienced a life-threatening allergic reaction following a medication error because of inaccessible allergy information in the EHR [6].
IQ refers to the extent to which information is fit for a specific purpose [10,11]. IQ is multidimensional, with each dimension describing a unique aspect of information [10,12].

It is generally agreed that a certain level of engagement is necessary for intervention effectiveness. However, there is a lack of clarity on how to conceptualize engagement. Some researchers have defined engagement solely as a psychological process relating to user perceptions and experience, whereas others consider engagement a purely behavioral construct, synonymous with intervention usage [4,7].

New technologies have been put forward as a cost-effective means to deliver behavioral health interventions and, as a result, prevent noncommunicable diseases (NCD) [9-12]. This is conceivable considering that the availability and personal use of information and communication technologies has increased significantly over the last two decades. Currently, 95% of the world population is covered by a mobile-cellular network and 84% is covered by a mobile-broadband network [13].
