The main causes of antibiotic resistance include overprescription of antibiotics, overuse of antibiotics in livestock and fish farming, poor infection control in hospitals and clinics, patients not finishing their treatment, a lack of hygiene, and poor sanitation [5-7]. Adding to the problem is a shortage of health manpower and training facilities coupled with a lack of effective educational programs for health care professionals [8].
