In a study of online resource use by medical residents, Duran-Nelson et al [4] suggested that when using online resources, residents may value speed over quality of information. Assuming learners hold the same preferences when seeking online information in their preclinical years, a learner may select a top Google Images search result regardless of its educational quality.

Taking Constructivism One Step Further: Post Hoc Analysis of a Student-Created Wiki

Students can create a “Folksonomy” (folk taxonomy) of information by tagging useful websites and resources for their peers, as opposed to a typical taxonomy of information bestowed in a top-down fashion from a lecturer or textbook [5]. Wikis can serve as part of a hybrid model between the traditional and constructivist learning environments by enabling students to self-organize and augment knowledge they receive from top-down teaching methods (Figure 1).
