A Cochrane review by Välimäki et al [24] also stresses the importance of high-quality studies in assessing the effects of novel interventions, in particular, the case of virtual reality for people with serious mental illness.
There are few studies that have produced coherent knowledge of the effects of social media use in treatment [7]. Research on the effects of online support for people with mental illnesses is even more scarce [25], especially when the illness is severe.
