Novel Psychosocial Correlates of COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy: Cross-Sectional Survey

Novel Psychosocial Correlates of COVID-19 Vaccine Hesitancy: Cross-Sectional Survey

This survey was based on an earlier study, done prior to the advent of vaccines, that examined determinants of COVID-19 protective behaviors such as mask-wearing and social distancing [16]. The survey was fielded from June 15 to 28, 2021. We collected 3225 surveys from age-eligible, consented individuals. To ensure the quality of the respondent data, as we have done in prior studies, we excluded 1792 surveys we deemed as providing invalid responses.

Expressive Interviewing Agents to Support Health-Related Behavior Change: Randomized Controlled Study of COVID-19 Behaviors

Expressive Interviewing Agents to Support Health-Related Behavior Change: Randomized Controlled Study of COVID-19 Behaviors

We investigated the following research questions (RQs) with respect to Expressive Interviewing: RQ1: What are the short-term effects of Expressive Interviewing on an individual’s mental health? RQ2: What are the long-term effects (after 2 weeks) of Expressive Interviewing on an individual’s behavior? RQ3: How do the short-term and long-term effects vary based on Expressive Interviewing participants’ writing style and demographic characteristics?

Enhancing Nonverbal Communication Through Virtual Human Technology: Protocol for a Mixed Methods Study

Enhancing Nonverbal Communication Through Virtual Human Technology: Protocol for a Mixed Methods Study

A recent innovation is an automated nonverbal feedback and detection system based on teleconferencing with an SPI, as reported by researchers in an Australian medical school [37]. The researchers demonstrated the utility of automated feedback on nonverbal behavior. In a randomized crossover trial, they found the system useful for enhancing medical communication and a statistically significant improvement over the standard curriculum component based on assessments by an SPI.

Online Search Behavior Related to COVID-19 Vaccines: Infodemiology Study

Online Search Behavior Related to COVID-19 Vaccines: Infodemiology Study

Infodemiology is the scientific study of the “distribution and determinants of information in an electronic medium, specifically the internet, or in a population, with the ultimate aim to inform public health and health policy” [8]. To date, a number of infodemiology studies related to the COVID-19 pandemic have been published. Many of these studies identified an association between general COVID-19–related or symptom-specific search trends and COVID-19 case incidence and associated deaths [12-18].

Novel Predictors of COVID-19 Protective Behaviors Among US Adults: Cross-sectional Survey

Novel Predictors of COVID-19 Protective Behaviors Among US Adults: Cross-sectional Survey

Psychological reactance theory, originally proposed by Brehm and Brehm [6] posits that when an individual’s sense of behavioral freedom is threatened, the individual is motivated to restore the perceived loss of freedom by psychologically and behaviorally rejecting the behavior, even if the behavior may be in their best interest.

Relationship Between Coronavirus-Related eHealth Literacy and COVID-19 Knowledge, Attitudes, and Practices among US Adults: Web-Based Survey Study

A prior study has demonstrated an association between higher receipt of information about COVID-19 available on the internet and increased engagement in personal protective behavior against COVID-19, such as handwashing, wearing facial masks, and avoiding social gatherings [33].

Promoting Smoke-Free Homes Through Biomarker Feedback Documenting Child Exposure to Tobacco Toxins: Protocol for a Randomized Clinical Trial

CBPR is an approach to research and community engagement that recognizes that the knowledge, expertise, and resources of communities often determine the success of research projects. Thus, we fully engaged our community partner in the research process [32]. Fundamental characteristics of CBPR include collaboration, empowerment, colearning, and community capacity building. An overarching key to the success of CBPR partnerships is the development of authentic partnerships.

Patient-Centered Pain Care Using Artificial Intelligence and Mobile Health Tools: Protocol for a Randomized Study Funded by the US Department of Veterans Affairs Health Services Research and Development Program

CBT is an attractive alternative to pharmacotherapy because impacts on functioning can last long after treatment is discontinued, and CBT does not entail the negative side effects of opioids. The goal of pain CBT is to assist patients in developing an adaptive problem-solving approach to pain management, and CBT targets both reductions in pain symptoms as well was their associated disability and emotional distress.
