With regard to patient benefit, Rochfort et al showed that when health professionals undergo training in empowering patients for self-management of chronic conditions, it is possible to achieve improvement in patients’ self-efficacy, autonomy and motivation to change, functional capacity, pain-free days, and quality of life [36]. The strength of this study was its focus on the participants of a Web-based MI course from 3 different levels of professional expertise.
