Comparison of Multimodal Deep Learning Approaches for Predicting Clinical Deterioration in Ward Patients: Observational Cohort Study

Comparison of Multimodal Deep Learning Approaches for Predicting Clinical Deterioration in Ward Patients: Observational Cohort Study

Overview of unstructured data processing for a single timestep. CUIs are extracted from clinical notes by c TAKES and assembled into a usable data structure that maps encounter ID to a list of CUIs associated with the timestep. A table of CUI-associated data is created, independent of patient data, containing preferred text, ICD codes, Sap BERT embedding, and cluster information.

Relationship of Hair Cortisol Concentration With Perceived and Somatic Stress Indices: Cross-Sectional Pilot Study

Relationship of Hair Cortisol Concentration With Perceived and Somatic Stress Indices: Cross-Sectional Pilot Study

Since cortisol is incorporated into growing hair, hair is emerging as a novel matrix for measuring retrospective cortisol secretion over months [9,11,12]. Each 1 cm hair segment, beginning from the proximal end, approximates a month’s cortisol production.

Implications of Data Extraction and Processing of Electronic Health Records for Epidemiological Research: Observational Study

Implications of Data Extraction and Processing of Electronic Health Records for Epidemiological Research: Observational Study

Verheij et al [1] visualized the data flow from EHR systems to research datasets into distinct zones (ie, care zone, database zone, and research zone) (Figure 1). Each zone includes the underlying actions (ie, recording in EHR, extracting data, preparing data for research) and actors (ie, physician, database manager, researcher) that contribute to the introduction of potential biases.

Feasibility and Usability of a Web-Based Peer Support Network for Care Partners of People With Serious Illness (ConnectShareCare): Observational Study

Feasibility and Usability of a Web-Based Peer Support Network for Care Partners of People With Serious Illness (ConnectShareCare): Observational Study

We conducted a formative evaluation to examine the feasibility and usability of Connect Share Care, as defined by growth in membership enrollment, engagement in discussions, and member experiences using the network. The co-design process supporting the development of the web-based peer support network has been described separately by O’Donnell et al [14]. This study was conducted at a large, rural academic medical center in the northeastern United States.

Smartphone Ecological Momentary Assessment and Wearable Activity Tracking in Pediatric Depression: Cohort Study

Exclusion criteria for individuals with MDD included a severe neurodevelopmental disorder or other impairment that impacts the participant’s ability to provide the required information for the study (eg, symptom reports), a substance or medication-induced affective disorder, an affective disorder secondary to a medical condition, and a current Axis I psychotic or bipolar disorder.

Improving Suicidal Ideation Detection in Social Media Posts: Topic Modeling and Synthetic Data Augmentation Approach

Improving Suicidal Ideation Detection in Social Media Posts: Topic Modeling and Synthetic Data Augmentation Approach

Scoping reviews serve as a method to assess the scope of literature on a particular subject, providing insights into the available research and offering a broad overview of its focus [37]. Additionally, they highlight the types of evidence that guide practice in the field and examine how the research has been conducted [38]. Our protocol was developed using the scoping review methodological framework proposed by Arksey and O’Malley [39] and further refined by Peters et al [40].

Chatbot for the Return of Positive Genetic Screening Results for Hereditary Cancer Syndromes: Prompt Engineering Project

Chatbot for the Return of Positive Genetic Screening Results for Hereditary Cancer Syndromes: Prompt Engineering Project

Chatbots are a highly accessible and scalable platform that allows for simulated conversations. Accessible via the web through a hyperlink or downloadable app, chatbots can be used on a smartphone, tablet, or computer. The use of chatbots has also been shown to improve access to services and support health equity by providing personalized health education, being available in multiple languages, and offering continuous access to information [11-15].

Caregivers’ Perceptions of Clinical Symptoms, Disease Management, and Quality of Life Impact in Cases of Cyclin-Dependent Kinase-Like 5 Deficiency Disorder: Cross-Sectional Online Survey

Patient age had a clear impact on the types of treatments received. Among patients aged Seizure frequency did not influence the number of patients on a ketogenic diet, but the use of VNS tended to correlate positively with seizure frequency as follows: 8% (1/12) of patients with a few seizures per month, 9% (2/22) of those with weekly seizures, 11% (6/54) of those with 1-5 seizures a day, and 19% (5/27) of those with >5 seizures a day.

Information Needs for Opioid Use Disorder Treatment Using Buprenorphine Product: Qualitative Analysis of Suboxone-Focused Reddit Data

Information Needs for Opioid Use Disorder Treatment Using Buprenorphine Product: Qualitative Analysis of Suboxone-Focused Reddit Data

To develop a more comprehensive understanding of these challenges, it is essential to analyze posts that involve multiple, overlapping themes and reflect the complexity of real-world experiences. We address this research gap by proposing a theme-driven framework that provides a labeled dataset. A comprehensive analysis is performed on this dataset, covering multiple themes of TINs and capturing Reddit post data from thousands of affected individuals.
